Carter's Country Outdoors - A Texas Tradition

For over 30 years I have been a customer at Carter's Country Outdoors.  This family-owned company has served customers since 1961 and has grown to include four locations in the greater Houston, Texas area.  They provide a variety of quality products for hunters, fishermen, marksmen, and ammunition re-loaders.  The Treaschwig Road store location (a few miles north of George Bush Intercontinental Airport) also operates a nationally-recognized 5 Star outdoor shooting range for rifle, shotgun, and pistol shooters.  You will always receive friendly service, quality products, and a wealth of knowledge from the staff at Carters Country.  On August 18th I visited Carter's Country and sighted-in my trusty Winchester Model 70 .30-06 rifle.  Its ready to go for the upcoming Deer Hunting season. 2017 Pre-Season Scouting Trips

On July 29th and August 11th, I made trips to the Sam Houston National Forest in San Jacinto County.  Conditions were hot and humid, but the forest did have signs of moisture and recent rain fall. There were patches of water and mud in the creek bed, but upon my return on August 11th, a recent heavy rain had filled the creek and flooded several low lying areas.  The grasses and underbrush were in excellent condition, with evidence of extreme growth this Spring and early Summer.  I have not seen this level of plant growth in 6 years.  All of this bodes well for the Fall and Winter hunting seasons of 2017. 

 

2017 Hunters Extravaganza - Houston, Texas

The Texas Trophy Hunters Association sponsors the largest hunting related show in the State of Texas and I attended the Houston expo on August 5, 2017.  It was a great day and I enjoyed visiting the display booths and an educational seminar presented by Dr. James Kroll and Ben H. Koerth, renowned, wildlife researchers and biologists. Technology advancements have created an entire industry within outdoor recreation and I enjoyed speaking with representatives of many companies who provided products and services for hunters, landowners, and outdoorsmen.
